Submitting an application
Please always provide your Belgian National Register number or Belgian passport number when communicating with the Belgian Embassy in Islamabad.
Only Belgians registered at the Embassy of Belgium in Islamabad can apply for an eID or Kids-ID. Therefore, if you are living in Pakistan/Afghanistan, we advise you to register at the Embassy first.
The applicant has to come in person to the Embassy to get his data collected (fingerprints, live photo and signature), except children under 6 years. For children under 6 years, we accept the form, one passport photo (for more information about the requirements for the photo, please see below) and the money by post. However, the Embassy will not be liable for any loss of documents/money sent by post.
There are two types of identity cards:
- eID for adults and children from 12 years onwards (20 euros). This card has a validity of six years for applicants from 12 to 18 years old, a validity of ten years for applicants between 18 and 75 years and a validity of 30 years for applicants of 75 years old or older.
- Kids-ID for children under 12 years (10 euros). This card has a validity of three years.
In order to submit a application, please send an email to islamabad@diplobel.fed.be to request an appointment.
Please bring with you to the Embassy:
- The form (in French, Dutch or German), filled out and signed. There is a special form for children under 12 (in French, Dutch or German; Kids-ID form to be signed by both parents in the appropriate boxes). The eID applications for children over 12 years old must be signed by the child itself and by both parents (signatures at the bottom of the document). Don’t forget to mention the desired main language of the card.
- For adults: Belgian ID/passport
- For minors: Belgian/Pakistani IDs/passports of both parents (the document(s) must contain a signature of the concerned parent) and of the child
- The exact amount in cash: 20 euros for an e-ID for adults and children from 6 onwards and 10 euros for a Kids-ID for children under 12
- Your previous identity cards for destruction
- One recent passport photo which meets the set standards (45 mm on 35 mm) in colour, on an even white background. More information about the requirements for the photo can be found on the following links: in French - in Dutch. Please do not stick the photo to the application form.
After the application for an identity card has been submitted at the Embassy, it takes about 3 to 4 weeks for the Kids-ID/eID to arrive. The Embassy will contact you as soon as the card is ready for pick-up and activation.
