Marriage in Belgium visa
Schengen Visa, Special Type: Visa For Marriage In Belgium
- A valid international passport (the validity of the passport has to exceed the end of the proposed trip by at least three months); + 1 copy + 1 copy national ID-card.
- 2 visa application forms + 2 recent passport photographs.
- A recent medical certificate (not older than six months) issued by one of the Embassy’s approved physicians (see list on this website).
- Police Character Certificate (not older than 3 months, covering the last 5 years).
- An original formal obligation signed by the Belgian citizen (standard form annex 3bis). This document can be obtained by the host (ess) at the local town hall. The affidavit must be presented along with a copy of the ID card and a proof of solvency.
- Certificate of the notification of the intended marriage (has to be obtained at the local town hall in Belgium).
- Copy of identity card of the partner in Belgium.
- Proof of durable relationship.
- Birth certificate.
- Sufficient lodgment/ accommodation.
- Income of your partner in Belgium.
- Mutuality.
WHEN FAMILY REUNIFICATION IS SOUGHT FOR CHILDREN FROM A PREVIOUS MARRIAGE, THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS HAVE TO BE PRESENTED
- Birth certificate of the child or children;
- Divorce certificate of the previous marriage;
- An official document proving who has the custody for the child;
- A parental permission to leave the country of origin for good.
Important:
(a) All foreign documents have to be accompanied by a certified translation to one of the following languages: French/Dutch/German/English.
(b) Certificates from the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages (birth certificate, proof of unmarried status) have to be accompanied by a certified translation AND have to be legalised.
(c) All documents must be presented in the original version and two copies direcly to the Embassy. All original documents are returned.

WHEN FAMILY REUNIFICATION IS SOUGHT FOR CHILDREN FROM A PREVIOUS MARRIAGE THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS HAVE TO BE CERTIFIED BY THE EMBASSY
- Birth certificate of the child/children;
- An official document proving who has the custody for the child/children;
- Divorce certificate of the previous marriage;
- A parental permission to leave the country of origin for good.
Additional documents may, where appropriate, be required. Presentation of a complete file does not necessarily mean that a visa will be issued.
